MFK Hair Co. believes strongly in personal responsibility, which is why we built a salon that we feel combines all the benefits of working for a commission salon as W-2 employee, with all the benefits and freedoms of being a 1099 contractor.

The one thing we ask of you, is to shift your mindset, as a hairdresser, from “service provider” to “artist.”We are a collective of individual and unique artists and our medium is hair. MFK Hair Co. is a hub for creativity, inspiration, and most importantly: community. Our goal is to uplift hairdressers in our community, we want EVERYONE to be successful and these are the policies we feel best support that.

Your responsibilities and freedoms:
-You make your own schedule, and manage your unlimited time off with no hassle
-You only need be at the salon when you have appointments (or if you want to hang and learn from your fellow stylists)
-You charge your own hourly rate that can increase whenever you see fit
-You communicate with your clients
-You have access to all your clients’ information
-You can work in multiple salons (open door policy)
-You only need to bring your shears and clippers (we have house blow dryers, combs, brushes, clips, and color tools but if you really like yours please bring them!)

MFK Hair Co’s responsibilities:
-We provide education regularly to maintain your licensure and help you grow as an artist
-We provide a static 48% commission rate for all stylists
-We provide guidance to all stylists in their professional development
-We provide all the color and backbar (and don’t charge you a fee for it either)
-We direct deposit your paychecks weekly
-We are here to support you in your artistic endeavors any way we can
